Our History
The Sarah Jane Legacy CIC was born from heartbreak, truth, and an unshakeable promise.
Created in honour of Sarah Jane a vibrant, fierce, deeply loved sister whose life was cut tragically short, this organisation stands as the continuation of her voice, her spirit, and her fight for every woman who was ever silenced.
Sarah was more than a name. She was creativity, courage, laughter, and tenderness wrapped into one. She loved boldly and lived with a fire that lit up everyone around her. When we lost her, we didn’t just lose a sister, we lost a future that should have been protected.
But her story didn’t end there.
The Sarah Jane Legacy CIC was founded to transform grief into purpose and memory into movement. Built on lived experience, truth-telling, and trauma-informed compassion, our history is rooted in the real lives of real women and children navigating the aftermath of abuse. This organisation exists because no sister should fall through the cracks, and no survivor should feel alone.
Every project we create, every circle we build, every safe space we design carries Sarah’s imprint. Her legacy fuels our mission:
to protect, uplift, restore, and empower in her name, for every sister who needs it.
This is where her legacy lives on.
This is where healing begins.
Our Team
The Sarah Jane Legacy CIC is led by a team of women who don’t just understand domestic abuse, they’ve lived it, survived it, and risen from it with purpose.
Our directors bring a unique blend of lived experience, professional insight, and deep, trauma-informed compassion. Each of us carries our own story of survival, resilience, and rebuilding, and together we’ve transformed those stories into a powerful foundation for change.
One of our directors has already spent over a decade running her own domestic-violence–focused CIC, supporting countless women and families across the UK. Her experience, leadership, and community knowledge strengthen our mission and ensure our work is rooted in long-standing, real-world practice.
As a team, we are driven by truth, integrity, and the fierce belief that every survivor deserves safety, dignity, and a future they can thrive in. We lead with heart. We lead with lived experience. And we lead with the unwavering promise that no woman or child will ever stand alone on our watch.
Collaborations
At the Sarah Jane Legacy CIC, we believe that real change happens when powerful women and purpose-led organisations come together with integrity, clarity, and a shared mission.
Our collaborations are built on trust, transparency, and a collective commitment to protecting and uplifting survivors.
We are proud to be working alongside like-minded leaders within the domestic-abuse sector, including an established founder of a newly formed DV CIC who has generously offered to accredit her CPD-certified training programmes. Through this collaboration, the Sarah Jane Legacy CIC will be able to facilitate high-quality, trauma-informed training for frontline refuge staff and professionals supporting survivors.
These collaborative relationships strengthen our reach, deepen our impact, and ensure the values we stand for, safety, dignity, empowerment, and lived-experience leadership are woven into every space we touch.
As we grow, we will continue to welcome meaningful collaborations with organisations and individuals who align with our ethos and are dedicated to creating safer futures for women and children.
